LEGAL EMPLOYMENT & EXPERIENCE:  Formerly: Of Counsel with Merritt & Tenney; Senior Partner with Hurt, Richardson, Garner, Todd, & Cadenhead; Partner with Smith Cohen, Ringel, Kohler, Martin & Lowe (now Smith, Gambrell & Russell).  Mr. Houchins' active law practice (which spanned some 34 years) was divided equally between litigation and business/corporate law.  His litigation practice consisted of representing both plaintiffs and defendants in tort, contract, real estate and business disputes in the Superior, State and Civil Courts of Georgia, as well as in the Federal District Court system.  His corporate law practice encompassed the creation and operation of legal entities; the drafting, construction and interpretation of contracts; the structuring of corporate expansions, mergers & acquisitions; the mediated resolution of business disputes and conflicts; and the planning, organization and implementation of numerous corporate strategies and programs.

PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS:  State Bar of Georgia; Former active member of Atlanta Bar Association, American Bar Association, Lawyers Club of Georgia, Georgia Defense Lawyers Association, International Bar Association, Old Warhorse Lawyers Club; former President and Board Member of French-American Chamber of Commerce; former Board Member of World Trade Club of Atlanta, German-American Chamber of Commerce, Belgian-American Chamber of Commerce.

BUSINESS EMPLOYMENT & EXPERIENCE:  Following his active law practice, Mr. Houchins became involved in business and financial consulting of individuals and corporations, and running a small business.

MEDIATION/ARBITRATION TRAINING:  Completion of training with Henning Mediation & Arbitration Service; registration as a Neutral with the Supreme Court of Georgia and the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution.
